Clear the ring for the young theater in the circus of knowledge

“Do you have time?” Asks Landestheater department head Nele Neitzke in her new play with the subtitle “Science for Children” for everyone aged eight and over, which premieres on Saturday. “Science can be fun”, is what Neitzke and her team would like to motivate and to “find out how you can find out something yourself”. Science and art have more in common than might appear at first glance: “Both put forward hypotheses that they investigate,” says “circus director” Airan Berg, who wants to “make knowledge sensual and create curiosity.”

This time, the audience from the age of eight is invited to track the time with the help of a story: because an actor has apparently overlooked the time and is still not there shortly before the premiere begins, the props manager (Isabella Campestrini) reconstructs the play to save him trouble . Which of course requires the audience’s help: “The piece is interactive,” says Neitzke.

And interdisciplinary. Visualizations (Nils Gallist, Manuel Lattner), videos (Stephanie Bergwinkl) and sound (Pia Ina Hochstrasser) enrich the work in cooperation with students from the University of Applied Sciences in Upper Austria and the University of Art and Design Linz.
