You’ve brushed your teeth and finished your bedtime routine, and you’re finally ready to slip under the sheets. Not so fast! According to a dentist, you should also clear your nostrils.

Cleaning your nose should be just as important a pre-sleep ritual as brushing your teeth, says Dr.r Sébastien Lomas, dentist from the United Kingdom.

In a video on TikTok, Lomas wrote to his 21,400 followers that it “was time to add nose cleaning to his nightly routine.”
He later clarified in his video that “clearing your nose before bed is just as important as brushing your teeth,” according to the dentist.

This will allow you to clear your sinuses so you can breathe through your nose and not your mouth: this might help you get a better night’s sleep and put an end to snoring.
Although quite common, snoring can wake people up throughout the night and cause them, whether the snorers or their bed partners, to feel exhausted all day.

In severe cases, snoring can signal a health problem such as sleep apnea, a common condition linked to heart problems that can be fatal if left untreated.
Clearing your sinuses can help stop snoring, explained Dr.r Lomas. “If you can’t breathe through your nose, you’re going to breathe through your mouth and you’re going to snore.”
How to do?
He demonstrates in his TikTok content the proper technique for clearing the sinuses: standing, he inhales through his nose then exhales while keeping his mouth closed.
Then, pinch the tip of your nose and move your head from one side to the other so that your ears almost touch your shoulders. In doing so, he tries to unclog his ears.
You must repeat this for at least five seconds and then release your nose. The Dr Lomas, in his video, then took the time to take deep breaths in and out.
