Spy/Master, a Max Originals production, premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival and, starting May 19, airs on HBO and HBO Max.
The story created by Adina Sădeanu and Kirsten Peters is set at the height of the Cold War and covers a week in the life of the fictional character Victor Godeanu (Mihai Pacepa), played by Alec Secăreanu (God’s Own Country, Ammonite, Happy Valley), Nicolae Ceaușescu’s right-hand man and his most important adviser.
About the role of Nicolae Ceaușescu, Claudiu Bleonț says that he never imagined that he would play it. With all his tics and stuttering, with all his primitivism.
