Claudia Sheinbaum confirms: there will be a Mayan Train to Progreso, Yucatan

MEXICO CITY.- Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, future president of Mexico announced the expansion of the projects of the Virtual Trends and the Interoceanic Train to connect them with the port of Progreso, Yucatán, and Dos Bocas, Tabasco, respectively.

“In the southeast it is the Mayan Train cargo train and on the other hand, the connection to Puerto Progreso; and the connection to the Dos Bocas refinery, which is a fundamental part of what we discussed when we were analyzing the Interoceanic Train, as two pending projects that will be our responsibility,” he said at a press conference from his campaign headquarters.

He recalled that the Interoceanic Train not only connects Coatzacoalcos with Salina Cruz, but there will be a line that connects Ixtepec with Ciudad Hidalgo and another that goes from Coatzacoalcos to Palenque and it is precisely in this section where he announced an additional line to extend it to the Dos Bocas refinery.

Mayan Train to Progreso

In the case of the Mayan Train, he explained that the elected governor of Yucatan, Joaquin “Huacho” Diaz Mena, has a project called “Mayan Renaissance”, which, among other things, seeks to connect this train with Puerto Progreso, “mainly as a freight train, although also as a passenger train”. “And there also to make Puerto Progreso a deep-water port, a project that has been going on for many years”, added the former head of government.

At the press conference, Dr. Sheinbaum presented a map showing the routes of the Mayan Train and the Interoceanic, as well as the new sections that would be built during her administration.

What does the Mayan Renaissance Plan say?
