From January 18th to March 30th, 2025, keen ears will be treated to “Planetarium Concert – Classical Journey through Space,” transforming Konica Minolta Planetaria TOKYO into an interstellar concert hall.
A Cosmic Concert Experience
Immerse yourself in a unique fusion of art and science. “Planetarium Concert – Classical Journey through Space,” blends the profound wonders of the universe, featuring breathtaking celestial projections, with the expressive power of classical masterpieces.
Music Travels Among the Stars
“Classical Journey through Space,” as its name suggests, delves into the rich connection between music and space exploration. Maestro Beethoven’s “Paradise” is said to have been the first piece played in space. His “Symphony No. 5 “Fate” will be part of the repertoire, chosen for its powerful and symbolic association with discovery and exploration.
Astronaut Soichi Noguchi initiated the musical voyage to space, playing “Symphony No. 5 ‘Fate’” on the International Space Station in 2021.
The performances will be energized by the talented Kokon Quartet (Hiroshi Watanabe STRINGS). This quartet, with its unique composition of two violins, viola, and contrabass, offers a distinctive sound; the presence of a contrabass opens up possibilities, allowing for a wider range of pieces—from piano compositions to grand orchestral movements.
Mozart, Beethoven, and More
The concert program will weave together 11 well-loved classical pieces, seamlessly blending together in an interstellar journey.
