Old BlackBerry phones will become obsolete starting Tuesday, with the shutdown of their operating system.
This means that all those old devices not running on Android software will no longer be able to use data, send text messages, access the internet or make calls, even to 911.
The company, which has been in existence since 2013, first announced in 2016 that it would stop manufacturing phones to focus on business and government service activities.
Then, in 2020, it announced the discontinuation of those systems as part of its effort to focus on providing security software and services to businesses and governments around the world under the BlackBerry Limited name.
Note that new models with an Android operating system will not be affected by this change.
