Clashes resume over ‘land dispute’ in Kurram district, 12 dead: Officials

Similarly, the Police Control Room of Lower Kurram told Independent Urdu that ‘six deaths and 11 people have been injured in Lower Kurram so far.’

How did the fight begin?

The land dispute between Bushehra and Ahmedzai villages in Para Chinar area of ​​Upper Karam tehsil of Karam district started two days ago and both sides turned against each other.

The people of Ahmadzai village and Bushehra village accused each other of building fronts in their lands and this started the conflict.

According to the hospital administration, six people have lost their lives and 21 have been injured in this battle in Upper Kurram so far.

Heavy weapons were also used by the parties in the fight, but like in the past, the fight between the parties has reached other areas of the district.

After Bushehra, clashes broke out between Balash Khel and Khar Kale villages of Lower Karam Tehsil.

Javed Mehsud, deputy commissioner of Karam district, told Independent Urdu that “efforts are ongoing with the help of local leaders to stop the fighting and cease fire, while security personnel are also ready.”

Troops have been deployed to maintain law and order in the area to prevent clashes, he said.

Jalal Hussain Bangash, the head of Anjuman Hussainiya Para Chinar, told a press conference at Para Chinar Press Club yesterday that ‘this is a personal land dispute and it is spread to other areas.’

Jalal Hussain said that ‘his loss is that there is loss of life on both sides.’

He appealed and said that ‘personal land conflicts should not spread to other regions and nations.’

Jalal Hussain Bangash said that ‘We want peace in Karam and the Grand Jirga, District Administration and District Police are working since day one to solve this problem.’

On the other hand, the president of Anjuman Farooqiyya, Munir Bangash expressed his regret over the recent events and said in his statement that ‘for 40 years we have been fighting with each other but the result is nothing but destruction, malice and hatred. .’

He said that the situation has reached such a level that some elements on both sides do not even listen to the leaders and that’s why we should stand up against these elements.

Munir Bangash said that ‘some elements want to continue the war because we have stopped fire in some places, but for some elements, maybe there is benefit in war and they do not want peace.’

Two months ago, there were clashes between the parties over a similar land dispute in which 42 people lost their lives.

After which Jirga was held by various nations and ceasefire was announced through the efforts of Jirga.

Bushehra village and land dispute

Bushehra, a suburb of Para Chinnar, the capital of Upper Karam district, looks like a typical hilly area of ​​Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but there is a piece of land over which the conflict has so far claimed dozens of lives.

There is a dispute over the ownership of 30 acres of land, approximately 100 kanals, between the tribes living in two villages of Bushehra, but the land dispute turns into a war after a fight.

Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is located on the border with Afghanistan, previously a major conflict in Kurram district that started in 2007 lasted for several years and was ended in 2011 with the help of a jirga of tribal elders.

According to local people, due to the ongoing clashes in Karam district for the last three days, the main highway Tilpara Chinnar is completely closed for traffic and Karam district is disconnected from the rest of the country.

Local journalist Rehan Muhammad told Independent Urdu that many candidates were left behind for the medical test to be held yesterday (September 22) due to the closure of Tilpara Chinar Road.

He said that ‘whenever this main highway is closed, the people of Kurram face shortage of food items, medicines and other goods.’

According to Rehan Mohammad: ‘Most of the patients from District Karam go to the hospitals in Pashaud, but due to the closure of this road, the patients have to face severe difficulties.’
