In Sudan, the battle for power between the two generals who have ruled the country since the 2021 putsch has intensified, causing more than 185 deaths.
Airplanes from General Abdel Fattah al-Burhane’s army attempt to defeat armored fire from the paramilitaries of General Mohamed Hamdane Daglo’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF), who was his second in command during the coup, but who is become his sworn enemy since Saturday.

Staff of the World Food Program (WFP) have been killed, leading to the suspension of the activities of several NGOs and UN agencies. At least two hospitals have been evacuated and grocery stores have warned they won’t be able to last much longer without supplies.
Residents of Khartoum barricade themselves in their homes as violence spreads in the city. The UN called on the generals to cease hostilities immediately, but the UN envoy expressed little hope for a quick return to dialogue. The latent conflict between the two generals has claimed victims for weeks.
