Claro customers report problems using two eSIM

O MacMagazine received, in recent weeks, reports from readers who have faced a problem that is at least peculiar: the difficulty (or even the impossibility) of activating one or more e.g from foreign operators when there is already an electronic chip installed in the iPhone.

More precisely, the cases come from clients of Clear, as also seen in this report shared in the Apple Support community. According to affected users, the issue happens when they already have a carrier eSIM installed on their device and try to add a new one.

Basically, this process results in an alert that says, “Unable to activate eSIM.” The chances are that the problem is strictly linked to the electronic chip, since no complications were found when activating the eSIM of international operators when the physical chip da Claro is in the iPhone tray, as explained in the aforementioned report.

This, however, can be a bigger problem for owners of iPhones 14 purchased in the United States, which do not come with the tray for inserting the physical chip. Furthermore, as we can see in the report above, the problem occurred both on the iPhone 12 Pro, as well as on a 13 Pro and a 14 Pro.

We also received reports from readers and decided to contact Claro. According to the operator, the only way to solve the problem now is Erasing Claro’s eSIM, installing the electronic chip that will be used abroad and then reinstalling Claro’s eSIM. ????

The fact is that this process not only seems like a kludge, but also requires the customer to be available to go to a store and complete the procedure in order to obtain a new eSIM (depending on the contracted plan), not to mention the possible expense with a new one. unit of that chip.

We questioned Claro if this is the company’s “official” solution or if they are working on a better way to solve the problem, but the press office did not return our contact attempts.

Although the reports we have compiled have always been of people trying to activate a second eSIM for use abroad, it is possible that the problem also affects the installation of a second national eSIM when Claro’s is already active.
