Video shows the moment when PM is murdered by civil police in convenience of MT. The two were armed and drinking beer together at the same table when they started arguing.
Mário and Thiago, two police officers, had a disagreement while drinking together
A civil police officer killed a PM at a convenience store in Cuiabá (MT) last Thursday (27). The two were armed and drinking beer together at the same table when they started arguing. Closed circuit footage of the scene recorded the moment of the crime (watch below).
The civil police officer is Mario Wilson Vieira da Silva (gray shirt in the video), 39 years old. The victim is PM corporal Thiago de Souza Ruiz, 36 years old (white shirt in the video).

Mario and Thiago were talking at a table accompanied by two other friends. At the time of the crime, three people were at the table, while another boy was smoking outside.
The images show that Thiago (the PM) lifts his shirt to show a scar. At that moment, Mario (a civil police officer) pulls out his pistol and takes the .38 caliber gun that was on the PM’s waist.
Thiago tries to retrieve the gun and gets into a physical fight with the civil police officer. The two fall to the ground and a third man tries to break up the fight. Thiago gets up, tries to run and Mario fires 9 shots at the MP.
Thiago was rescued and taken to a private hospital, where resuscitation procedures were performed. But he might not resist and died.
Mario, assigned to the Derf (Specialized Robbery and Theft Police Station), left the scene of the crime, according to witnesses. He later presented himself to the police, handed over the murder weapon, and was arrested red-handed for aggravated homicide. The researcher has been at the institution since June 2011.
The Justice of Mato Grosso converted Mario’s arrest into preventive (for an indefinite period) following a custody hearing and determined that he be sent to the prison unit in Chapada dos Guimarães (MT) to “guarantee his physical and psychological integrity, in view of that it is a civil police”.
Thiago’s wife said she saw the footage from the establishment’s security cameras and said she still doesn’t understand the motivation for the disagreement.
“They were at the convenience and my husband got up to show a scar under his arm. My husband was talking to this guy who murdered him. Thiago had a firearm on his waist and so did the other, the civilian. He took Thiago’s gun and didn’t show any reaction. They fell into a collision and there was a shot. There were nine shots at close range practically. That’s what I know,” he said.
What do witnesses say
Walfredo Raimundo Adorno Moura Junior, 48, is also a civil police officer and was drinking with the victim and the shooter. In testimony, he revealed that the shooter and the victim met on the night of the crime and, right away, they fell out over a feud involving their professions.
Walfredo said that he was the one who presented the victim and the shooter early on Thursday (27), at the convenience store. The investigator also said that Mário was aware that Thiago was also a police officer. Thiago even had a Military Police badge inside his shirt.
Walfredo said that he had known the victim for at least five months and that, that night, he was accompanied by Thiago at the convenience of the post. Mário arrived with a lawyer friend and at that moment the victim and the shooter were introduced.
According to Walfredo’s version, there was a disagreement between the two as soon as they were introduced. Mário allegedly told the PM: “You are not a shitty police officer”. Walfredo would have tried to “appease” the feelings between his friends and said: “Stop, stop, stop, what is this Mario, is Papa Mike”, a term used to designate military police. “Oh, stop it, you two are police, you are two shits”, continued Walfredo, trying to lighten the mood.
Shortly followingwards he would have left the interior of the convenience to smoke thinking that everything was resolved between the pair, leaving Thiago, Mário and a lawyer who was with Mário. When he was outside, Walfredo is said to have looked inside and seen the fight going on.
He would have tried to stop the fight by taking Thiago’s arm from Mário’s neck, at which time Mário managed to shoot. The friend walked away towards the door and saw Mário, who was lying on the floor, firing several shots towards Thiago, who even though he was shot, tried to flee.
