Civil War, is what remains of ARENA 2024-03-13 00:59:28

Today, the recently re-elected ARENA deputy, Marcela Villatoro, complained to the president of the tricolor party, Carlos Saade, for not having recognized her victory and that of Francisco Lira in the 2024 legislative elections.

“It has been a month since the re-election of Francisco Lira and myself, in which we managed to be that voice within the Assembly, however to date there has been no call or support from President Carlos Saade. We were not your favorites but today we are the face of the party,” said the legislator.

Likewise, Villatoro urged the opposition to: “Stop calling those who want things to improve a divider or swallow, they must change, there is no time.”

Given this, the president of ARENA did not apologize for not congratulating them, contrary to this he responded: “It’s good that you continue to respect the leadership of #COENA and my presidency.”

Although ARENA now has very few legislators in the Legislative Body, and in turn with almost zero support from the Salvadoran people, the Civil War within the party continues, leading to a historic political decline.

The former ARENA candidate, Ondina Ramos, came out in defense of Saade and tried to summon Villatoro, however, the latter responded, “Sit down, daughter, I gave you a lot of votes.”

For his part, the former presidential candidate of the tricolor party, Joel Sánchez, gave a boost to Villatoro and agreed that there must be better leadership in ARENA to move the party forward, after the defeat it received in the recent elections.
