Gaza – The General Directorate of Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip announced yesterday, Sunday, the death of a third member of its staff in the Israeli army massacre in the Mawasi area of Khan Yunis (south), raising the number of martyrs in the directorate to 79 since the outbreak of the war.
On Saturday, Israeli warplanes bombed tents of displaced Palestinians in the Al-Mawasi area, killing 90 Palestinians, half of them children and women, and injuring 300, including serious injuries, according to the Ministry of Health.
The General Directorate of Civil Defense said in a statement via Telegram: “The number of civil defense martyrs in the Israeli massacre in Mawasi Khan Yunis has risen to 3 martyrs, following the martyr firefighter Bilal Ramadan Farhan died of his serious injury.”
“This brings the number of civil defense martyrs since the beginning of this war to 79,” according to the statement.
The Civil Defense had previously announced, on Saturday, the killing of two of its members, which raised the number of its dead at that time to 78 since October 7, 2023.
Earlier on Sunday, 15 Palestinians were killed and 80 others, including children and women, were injured in an Israeli attack on a school housing displaced people in the Nuseirat camp in central Gaza, the third massacre in two days, which claimed the lives of more than 100 Palestinians and injured hundreds more.
With American support, Israel waged a devastating war on Gaza, resulting in more than 127,000 Palestinian deaths and injuries, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing amid massive destruction and famine that claimed the lives of dozens of children.
Tel Aviv continues this war, ignoring the UN Security Council resolutions to stop it immediately, and the International Court of Justice orders to end the invasion of Rafah (south), take measures to prevent acts of genocide, and improve the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
For the 18th year, Israel has besieged the Gaza Strip, and its war has forced regarding two million of its population, numbering regarding 2.3 million Palestinians, to flee in catastrophic conditions, with severe shortages of food, water and medicine.
