City of FreiburgThe lowering of the speed to 30km/h enters its final stretch

The development of part of the 17 axes which will pass in the 30 km / h zone is under investigation this Friday.

The project to lower the speed to 30 km/h on a majority of the territory of the city of Friborg has just taken a decisive step. The Cantonal Court declared inadmissible the appeal lodged once morest the decision of the State of Friborg on this subject. The City of Friborg therefore launched an investigation on Friday into the development and moderation measures on 10 of the 17 axes planned in the 30 km/h zone. In addition, some 200 speed limit signs will have to be placed on all the roads affected by these speed reductions. However, the concrete application of the 30 km/h limit in the city of Friborg will not take place until the end of 2023 at the earliest.

These measures target in particular the surroundings of several school complexes, in the Pérolles district, in order to make the way to school safer. In addition, parking spaces will be removed, as they are mainly used by “parent-taxis” or motorists generating movements that can compromise the safety of students. On the other hand, places for bicycles will be created and sidewalks will be raised, widened and vegetated. Similarly, the space gained on the roadway will be transformed into a flowery meadow.
