Citroën wants to ban the Polestar logo throughout Europe, the French judging it too close to his.
Citroën really struggles with Polestar, Volvo’s new electric sports brand. Or more precisely with the logo of the Swedish label. The French brand considers it too close to its own. The Nordic star is indeed made up of facing chevrons.
It is for this reason that Polestar is still not available in France. Citroën took Polestar to court in France. In 2020, if the court had rejected Citroën’s claims for trademark infringement, it had ruled in favor of the trademark infringement.
Clear, Polestar can take advantage of the fame of the French, known for decades as the chevron brand. Polestar therefore cannot sell its cars on French soil. A few days ago, the Swede did not wish to comment on the case with Automobile Propre.

And this time, Citroën wants to take it to the next level. Citroën having logically protected its logo in Europe, it seized the French-speaking company court in Brussels (Belgium). The French manufacturer therefore wants to prevent Polestar from using its emblem throughout Europe. The case will be examined in the fall. But other actions of Citroën at the level of the Old Continent did not succeed.
The idea is obviously not to put an end to Polestar, but to impose a change of logo on it. A victory for Citroën might quickly make him change his mind, because if he is still absent from us, Polestar has established itself in many European countries. Having to stop sales there seems unthinkable.
