Something new at Citroën Morocco, which welcomes the C4 X into its range of new vehicles. Compared to the C4 sedan, this X version is 24 cm longer at the rear and inherits a larger trunk volume. This is also one of its strong points, in addition to its good bills, which should arouse the interest of families accustomed to cutting down the kilometer, as well as professionals and other managers of automobile fleets.
Nice mix of genres offered by the C4 X which, very inspired by a normal C4, plays in its own way on the stylistic codes of mid-size sedans and SUVs. Concretely, we find the same facies, the slightly raised ground clearance, the protections of the wheel arches and sills similar to the C4, elements that reinforce its SUV look. Add its rather elegant “fastback” silhouette and you’re done! Some small aesthetic touches come to decorate the whole according to the chosen finishes, such as the shells of exterior mirrors in glossy black color and the 3D hubcaps on the 16-inch rims (entry-level finish Feel). Unless you opt for the most upscale finish (Shine) which is adorned with body-color exterior door handles and 17-inch alloy wheels.

As mentioned above, the rear overhang has been stretched by 24 cm compared to a C4; enough to have a classic opening trunk (and not a tailgate) which cube 510 liters, the loading capacity being expandable to 1,360 liters, provided that the backs of the rear seat are folded down. In the end, the machine emerges at 4.60 m long, which is not bad for a family-type vehicle. As for the width (1.80 m) and height (1.52 m), they are identical to those of a C4, already renowned for its sense of welcome, especially in the rear seats. It should be noted that on the C4 X, the backrest of the bench seat has been slightly inclined, not to mention that the cutout of the roof fortunately does not penalize the roof guard. Something to reassure big guys!
On board, there are no big surprises and for good reason: the passenger compartment of the C4 X is modeled on that of the normal C4. The presentation is neat with quality materials and well arranged. There is no lack of storage; add a bulky glove box topped with a drawer and a support for a tablet or smartphone on our trial version in Shine finish. Is it necessary to point out that the media interface on this Citroën is changing significantly, giving access to navigation, music, telephone services, etc., in a more intuitive, fluid and customizable way.

Let’s come to the staffing of comfort and safety equipment which, from the entry level, includes in particular dual-zone automatic air conditioning, “Citroën Advanced Comfort” suspensions, the “Safety Pack”, the automatic electric parking brake. As for the mechanical component, the C4 X is available in a 100% electric version, but also in gasoline and diesel. It is this last engine that Citroën Maroc has taken care to bring back; in this case the 1.5 liter BlueHDi with 131 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque, automatically associated with an eight-speed automatic gearbox. A mechanical coupling which has something to delight the big rollers with regard to its low consumption displayed, this one not exceeding 4.1 l/100 km.
With such values, the C4 X does not have to blush in the face of the competition given its performance which is not ridiculous, as we were able to see during a road trip between Casablanca and Rabat: 190 km /h at maximum speed with a generous torque of 300 Nm, all well supported by the EAT8 gearbox which is smooth and responsive with, as a bonus, effective reminders. We will add a suspension with long travels, associated with shock absorbers with hydraulic stops, which absorb the slightest imperfection of the roadway with ease. Also, the seats perfectly support the body and also contribute to the concept of comfort.
