The e-C3, announced for 2025, is expected to drive up to 320 kilometers with a 44 kWh battery.

With the announcement that it will bring a compact electric car with everyday range for less than 20,000 euros onto the market in two years at the latest, the traditional French manufacturer Citroën is returning to old virtues. Finally, the electric version of the latest small car, the C3, is strikingly reminiscent of the legendary 2CV model, which provided affordable mobility for over four decades starting in 1949 and made entire generations mobile with its French charm. And also implements ideas from the smart technology carrier Oli in large-scale production.

The basic concept of the Citroën e-C3 is reminiscent of the “duck”

In fact, the basic concept of the e-C3 is somewhat reminiscent of the legendary “duck”: While performance explodes elsewhere, the e-C3 makes do with a comparatively modest 83 kW, i.e. 113 hp. The Citroën engineers are building the 44 kWh battery pack, which is also deliberately kept small, and consists of lithium ferrophosphate batteries, on the cost-effective BEV platform of the parent company Stellantis. These should deliver enough power for a WLTP range of up to 320 kilometers. It charges with 100 kW direct current and goes from 20 to 80 percent of capacity in around 26 minutes.

The e-C3 might also be reminiscent of the duck in terms of comfort and storage space: for the first time, the small car has the brand’s own chassis with hydraulic shock absorbers. The trunk should hold up to 310 liters.
