Citizen Movement promotes mental well-being

Movimiento Ciudadano recognizes the importance of the mental health and well-being of all people. Committed to promoting mental health and supporting people facing mental health problems, it has carried out a series of actions during the month of March to promote the emotional well-being of girls and adolescents.

Beginning with the self-esteem, self-concept and self-love workshop for girls from five to eleven years of age where they learned psycho-emotional tools through teamwork dynamics and social skills, as well as recognizing themselves as individual beings deserving of rights and respect.

Hence the interest on the part of mothers of families to expand the topic in educational institutions where cases of violence, depression and anxiety have been projected. For this reason, through the efforts made by the councilor Tita de la Parra, synergizing with the mental health sub-directorate to carry out talks on self-awareness, identification and guidance in cases of depression and anxiety.

It was the Technical Secondary School number 19 where the activity promoted by the councilor Naranja was carried out at the request of the parents and with the support of its director, Juan Aguilar; to address the need to talk about mental health and thanks to the experience and professionalism of Lic. Ana Terán, deputy director of mental health in the municipality of the capital, it was possible to bring together a group of more than 200 young women. a pleasant talk and to be able to detect through a screening the emotional situation of the students to later be able to channel them.

I say yes to life, is the program promoted by the mental health sub-directorate in the municipality with the aim of promoting tools that allow strengthening knowledge for suicide prevention among its community.

“The commitment is to provide follow-up and treatment for the students, since it has been recognized that there is a high rate of situations of anxiety and depression that must be worked on to promote well-being in their mental health; in addition to seeking solutions to create community and safe spaces for them. The objective is to be able to expand it in more educational institutions and continue with the promotion and care of our mental health” commented the cyclist Tita de la Parra.
