Citizen deprived of liberty for illegal practice of dentistry in Monagas

Caracas.- The 1st Control Court of Monagas deprived a man of liberty for illegally practicing dentistry, reported the Public Ministry.

After admitting the facts, the citizen was sentenced to four years and two months of imprisonment in the Monagas Judicial Detention Center, commonly known as La Pica, located in Maturín, capital of the entity. The false dentist is sentenced on charges of usurpation of medical functions, continued fraud and illegal practice of medicine, following the MP requested the deprivation of liberty for said crimes.

The MP charged more than 12 false doctors and dentists so far this year, these people take advantage of the need of people with low resources, serving them without prior knowledge of dentistry.

Officials from the Criminal and Criminal Scientific Investigations Corps (CICPC) of Monagas state found José Daniel Azuaje Berríos in flagrante delicto while he was irregularly carrying out dental work on Azcue de Maturín street.

The officials approached the citizen to request the corresponding academic certificates and permits to carry out this activity, to which Azuaje replied that he did not have these.

Consequently, and following finding a photopolymer, two syringes of phosphoric acid, 15 metal tweezers of different sizes, alcohol, two brackets and 471 individual bands on the site, the officers put Azuaje at the disposal of the Public Ministry, where he was charged and subsequently transferred to the 17th Prosecutor’s Office of Monagas, an entity that ratified the accusation. Thus, Azuaje was sent to the jurisdiction court, where he was sentenced, AVN reported.
