Target of the global protest

Machado had announced on August 11 that the “great global mobilization” aims to confirm that Edmundo González was the winner of the presidential elections of July 28, according to the results of the voting records published by the Command with Venezuela.

In a video shared on social media, Machado invited Venezuelans to take to the streets of their city with the printed ballots.

“Find the voting record of your center at www.resultadosconvzla.comprint it and take it to the rally in your city. Let the world see, with the minutes in hand, that we will not let ourselves be robbed,” Machado stressed.

The video features Edmundo González Urrutia, as well as personalities such as influencer Lele Pons, actors Christian McGaffney and María Gabriela de Faría, and comedian George Harris.

“This message is for you, who do not recognize yourself in today’s Venezuela, who are tired of having your family separated, who voted and want what you decided on July 28 to be respected,” said the political leader.

He also asked Venezuelans to share the video so that others can join this rally that will take place inside and outside Venezuela.

Call for demonstration

Opposition leader María Corina Machado had previously provided details of the “enormous global activity” in support of political change in the country.

“It will be a huge event where everyone will have to see the strength, determination, and decision that we Venezuelans have made, that there is no turning back,” Machado said during a conversation with Venezuelan influencer Lele Pons, broadcast through her Instagram account.

Machado revealed that this mobilization will be held inside and outside Venezuela in support of González Urrutia, whom he called the “new president-elect.”

“We are not going to leave the streets, that does not mean that we are going to be in the streets every day. I hope that all those who feel pain in Venezuela will join this activity, which will be a moment of encounter,” added the political leader.

He also indicated that the movement will be “organized, civic and peaceful,” but reaffirmed that the position they are carrying out has a robust strategy to defend the decision “that Venezuelans made on July 28.”

Election results in the diatribe

According to 83.5% of the electoral records held by the opposition, González won the presidential elections on July 28 by obtaining 6,275,182 votes against 2,759,256 votes in favor of Nicolás Maduro.

However, the National Electoral Council (CNE) issued on August 2 the second bulletin with the results of the presidential elections of July 28 and confirmed that Maduro was re-elected with 6,408,844 votes and 96.87% of the votes counted.

The president of the CNE, Elvis Amoroso, assured that Edmundo González managed to obtain 5,326,104 votes (43.18%), without the results having been published in detail as established by the legal regulations of electoral processes.
