Cirque du Soleil: Shocking acrobat’s fall – Breathtaking video

A shocking video captured the moment a Cirque du Soleil acrobat fell to the ground after slipping during her aerial acrobatics routine.

Russia’s Maria Konfektova was hospitalized after falling from a hoop while performing at the KOOZA show in Portland, Oregon on Saturday, without a safety net underneath her.

Audience members were left in stunned silence after the acrobat lost her grip and plummeted onto the stage. A 10-year-old boy captured the terrifying moment on camera, saying he initially “thought it was part of the show”.

A Cirque du Soleil spokesman said Sunday that Konfektova was “conscious, stable and being cared for by her medical experts and team.”

The apparatus from which Konfektova fell was a large wreath hanging from a wire above the stage. Although the exact cause of the accident is under investigation, observers said the changing conditions experienced by traveling artists may have played a role.

Portland Tribune editor Dana Haynes, who met the artists for a profile days before the shows began, said conditions can change from location to location.

“Everything from the elevation of Portland to the humidity in the heat to the setting of all the mechanisms, the device, all of that can be slightly off,” Haynes told KOIN.

“And every place they went, they rehearsed and rehearsed and rehearsed. The coach in this case, the Australian coach, told me that the crown mechanism is off by a centimeter.

Cirque du Soleil added that Konfektova was the only performer to use the hoop during rehearsals and opening night.

The performer said she is “fine” after the incident and thanked fans for asking.
“We would like to assure you that the artist is recovering and is being cared for by our medical and training team,” KOOZA said in a Facebook post.

On Saturday, August 24, aerialist Maria Konfektova fell from the ring she was briefly performing in at the show at the city’s Expo Center, according to FOX 12.

Konfektova assured fans she was fine after noticing a disturbing comment on an Instagram video she had previously posted on May 18.

“I’m fine, thanks for asking ❤️,” wrote the performer, who holds the Guinness World Record for “most aerial hoop spins in 30 seconds.”
