Cirion will deploy new 20 MW Data Center in Santiago, Chile

Cirion, a provider of digital infrastructure and technology, announced that the company will begin construction on a new 20-megawatt carrier-neutral data center facility in Santiago, Chile (“SAN2). Cirion is backed by Stonepeak, an alternative investment firm specializing in infrastructure and real assets, with more than $57 billion in assets under management and an extensive portfolio of communications and digital infrastructure investments worldwide.

SAN2 is an expansion of Cirion’s current data center infrastructure in Latin America and will be well equipped to meet the needs of hyperscale cloud service providers, carriers, content providers and enterprises that require a scalable infrastructure. The expansion is expected to be completed by early 2025 and will be built on a 23,000 square meter plot of land in the industrial district of Quilicura.

The new data center will be strategically located close to Cirion’s current data center with a dense ecosystem in Santiago, 2.5 km away, to which it will be directly connected. It will have access to a business-friendly environment and renewable energy, with four independent metropolitan fiber route entrances to the building, long distance connectivity to major cities and technology hubs in the region, and will be close to international undersea cable networks to allow minimal latency between Latin America and other regions. SAN2 is well-positioned to serve as a critical hub for businesses in the region and beyond.

The data center will also allow companies to build and scale their operations in a facility aligned with Latin America’s sustainability goals and Environmental, Social and Governance strategy (“ESG”) by Cirion, as well as its commitment to technological innovation. The SAN2 will feature energy efficiency (Power Usage Effectiveness – PUE), with minimal consumption of energy, water and natural resources to reduce your overall impact on the environment. These standards have also been adopted by Cirion’s recently announced new 20 MW data center facility in Lurín, Peru (LIM2).

“The development of this new data center in Santiago represents another important step in our journey to grow our platform of low-latency interconnected data centers and establish a thriving digital ecosystem in Latin America,” said Facundo Castro, CEO of Cirion Technologies. “This new facility in Santiago reflects Cirion’s continued commitment to invest in and provide our customers with the most comprehensive set of data center solutions to support their digital transformation across the region.”

SAN2 will form part of Cirion’s broader carrier neutral platform, which currently consists of 18 proprietary data centers across Latin America. Customers will be able to connect directly to more than 90 operators and public cloud providers in the region using peer-to-peer networks through Cirion’s data centers, which also offer scalable colocation, cross-connectivity and disaster recovery capabilities.
