A diverse circus show with numerous highlights enlivened the garden of the Parsch elementary school.
After four years of a corona-related break, the Circus Parschinski opened its doors once more. A long line of young and old visitors waited in front of the colorful circus tent in the elementary school garden, which the fathers had erected the day before. In addition, numerous stands offered the right snacks from popcorn to cake and drinks for the sold-out performance.
The first performance was opened by Director Martina Fantl, Deputy Mayor Bernhard Auinger (SPÖ) and State Councilor Daniela Gutschi (ÖVP), who emphasized the special nature of the Parsch elementary school with its focus on circuses.
Manege free for the 235 students
The charming team of circus directors greeted the audience with funny puns and led through the evening with plenty of words. In 135 minutes, the 235 elementary school students presented twenty-one lovingly thought-out numbers that the children had been practicing since shortly before Christmas. There was a mixture of juggling, clowning, magic, artistry and acrobatics that fascinated the visitors. With the help of pois, plates, trapeze, clubs, mini bikes, scarves, ladders, pogos and much more, the children created a unique circus show with obvious joy.
All elementary school children do a circus every two years
Circus pedagogue Heimo Thiel and trained clown and religion teacher Andrea Öllerer are behind the project. The non-binding weekly exercise “circus arts” promotes the social and motor development of the children and has a positive effect on their self-image. At the Circus Parschinski, which takes place every two years, all elementary school children get a chance. Only the special numbers are taken over by the extra class.
1st place in the health prize for creative projects 2023
The project was recently awarded first prize in the health prize for creative projects by the Salzburg Youth Red Cross.
