“I had a lot of calls from people who wondered if it was really true, because they mightn’t quite believe their eyes,” says Léandre Panchevre, assistant manager at Cinéma Cartier.
In the morning, there was even a long line in front of the Le Clap cinema in Sainte-Foy, indicates the assistant manager of the branch, Félix Bergeron. He finds that many families have taken advantage of the reduced rate. Despite the sunny day, Léandre Panchevre is confident that there will be many customers since many have already purchased their tickets in advance. He expects a lot of traffic in the evening.
The international successes Barbie and Oppenheimer continue to attract moviegoers, but Quebec films have nothing to envy. My Mother’s Men, The Red Rooms and The Time of a Summer are also among the most popular films this Sunday.

This is the second National Film Day organized by the Cinema Association of Canada. More than 3,000 theaters across the country offer performances at $4, plus taxes, including 3D films. The discount is considerable, going up to 77%.
At Clap and Cinéma Cartier, an adult ticket is $14, and around $17 for 3D films. At Cineplex Odeon Sainte-Foy, a regular adult ticket costs $13 and $16 for a 3D movie.
An extraordinary summer
Félix Bergeron has worked in cinemas for more than five years, and he has never seen such enthusiasm in cinemas, especially for films from here. “The weather of a summer filled our largest rooms for a week”. Figures worthy of blockbusters, reports the assistant manager of Clap. “It’s rare, and it feels good,” he adds.
From June, moviegoers were there, according to Léandre Panchevre. But the numbers exploded with the arrival of Barbie, which filled some theaters several days in advance and continues to dominate the Box Office.
