HE HAD A BAD TIME. Cindy Marino opened up on Trome’s ‘Café con la Chevez’ regarding her time in the ‘Humor Cartel’, a defunct program led by Carlos Álvarez. The comic actress revealed that she did become uncomfortable with the Little School sequence where she confronted Melcochita with jokes.
The former dancer said that she even cried because of the harsh jokes and that she had to sit down and talk to the producer.
“There were all kinds of comments. When we started doing the Escuelita sketch, which Melcocha was giving me the badges, at the beginning I even cried, and the producer told me that if it made me too uncomfortable they would bring another girl. Carlos and Raúl call me at the office and tell me not to take it personally, that she was a character and was part of… I did take it personally,” she said.
Cindy Marino on the ‘Humor Cartel’: “Now that kind of thing is not allowed, but in those times it is”
The comic actress recognizes that those were different times and that she finally took it as a job. “There were people who criticized but I bet you that those people are the ones who laughed the most. Now that type of thing is not allowed, but in those times yes, people were laughing their butts off and it was the most watched program, every Sunday we were in first place,” she said.
“We swept the ratings. There was a spectacular team, the leaders were Raúl and Carlos, they were the bosses, the creatives. Furthermore, it was all the scenery, there were explosives, they got weapons, they put them together with Styrofoam, there was a production. We were going to Chimbote, Trujillo, we recorded on a giant ship and they threw Selma into the sea,” she said.
