CINCINNATI (AP) — American forward Brandon Vázquez was transferred from Cincinnati to Monterrey of Mexico on Wednesday, on a four-year contract.

Vázquez was presented at a press conference

The 25-year-old, originally from Chula Vista, California, scored 32 goals in 112 MLS regular-season games over four seasons with Cincinnati. He played for Atlanta from 2017-19, was drafted by Nashville in the 2019 expansion draft and was later traded to Cincinnati.

He scored 18 goals in the 2022 regular season, which caught the attention of US coach Gregg Berhalter. However, the strategist considered that it was too late to incorporate him into the squad that played in that year’s World Cup.

Vázquez has four goals in eight appearances for the United States, including three in last summer’s Gold Cup. He had also been eligible to play for Mexico, before opting for the United States.
