Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka beat world number one Iga Swiatek on Sunday, winning 6-3 in identical sets to reach her first career WTA 1000 final in Cincinnati qualifications.

While three of her four wins this week have been decided in the third set, Swiatek was unable to hold on to her position this time against Sabalanca, who has won twice this season. After losing to Swiatek in the second clay court final (Madrid and Rome), he took revenge on the Pole.

In the first set, Swiatek made many mistakes on serve and failed to score points on the second serve, but was broken twice by the calmer and more confident Sabalenka.

After a brief interruption due to rain, the match resumed with Sabalenka breaking Swiatek again. She fought hard and saved at least nine match points before conceding defeat.

Sabalenka will replace American Coco Gauff at second place in the WTA rankings before the start of the US Open on August 26. She will face American Jessica Pegula or Spanish player Paola in the final · Badosa.

The game is televised by TVA Sports 2.
