LAST weekend, Cigarettes After Sex released their highly anticipated third album, X’s.
Along with the release of X’s, the band from the United States (US) also released a slow dance song entitled X’s, which was taken from the love story of Cigarettes After Sex frontman, Greg Gonzalez.
A song that captivates all listeners, X’s showcases Gonzalez’s incredible ability to blend classic pop song structures with her signature sensual, dreamy, and romantic songwriting talent.
He said, “The story of this song is set in the house I used to live in near the Hollywood Hills where the album was recorded and where the romance in the song takes place. I see the rooms in that house once more when I hear this song.”
“The sensuality of the relationship and the ups and downs of that time are all captured in this song. Usually for me the songs that I really love are the ones that have a romantic feel, but with a little bit of erotic elements too. They can be a little bit lewd, but still feel sweet when listened to. The title of the song is taken from the photos of Marilyn Monroe taken in 1962 for Vogue Magazine by Bert Stern,” Gonzalez continued.
A day before the release of the album X’s, Cigarettes After Sex held an album listening party event globally, including in Indonesia, which took place at Audio Nirvana, Jakarta.

A number of Cigarettes After Sex music lovers who attended had the opportunity to listen to X’s album before it was officially released through an extraordinary state-of-the-art audio sound system. Other cities in Southeast Asia that held the event included Singapore and Manila.
X’s album was released following Cigarettes After Sex released a series of singles this year, namely Tejano Blue, Dark Vacay, and Baby Blue Movie.
Cigarettes After Sex is scheduled to hold the X’s World Tour, which will also visit Jakarta on January 17, 2025 and take place at the Beach City International Stadium in Ancol.

Since the release of the single Tejano Blue along with the announcement of X’s album and upcoming world tour, Cigarettes After Sex has amassed over 65 million streams for the single.
Currently, Cigarettes After Sex sits at #246 on Spotify’s list of most-streamed artists globally with over 25 million monthly listeners.
Currently, Indonesia is on the list of 10 countries that play their music the most globally. X’s album has been released on all digital music streaming platforms via Partisan Records. (Z-1)
