Cianjur POLRES arrested A, 41, a man from Karawaci, Tangerang City, Banten. He is suspected of creating a link to an online gambling application.
Cianjur Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Aszhari Kurniawan said,
The disclosure of this case began with an investigation by the Cianjur Police Criminal Investigation Unit Cyber Team which found a link to an online gambling application. As a result of the search, the police finally found the perpetrator who produced the application link.
“We at the Cianjur Police have succeeded in uncovering the alleged criminal act of online gambling. We have arrested one suspected perpetrator on Wednesday (17/4),” said Aszhari accompanied by Kasatreskrim Adjunct Commissioner Tono Listianto, Friday (19/4).
The method used, said Aszhari, was that the alleged perpetrator created an application shortcut and sold it on the marketplace.
“People who were interested then contacted the suspect. Then the suspect
send the next link via email to the buyer,” he explained.
The eradication of online gambling has received attention from President Joko Widodo.
The reason is, so far the government through the Ministry of Communication and Information has blocked many online gambling sites, but in reality the public can still access the links.

For his actions, the alleged perpetrator was charged with Article 45 Paragraph 3 in conjunction with Article 23 Paragraph 27 Paragraph 2 of Republic of Indonesia Law Number 1/2024 concerning Amendments to Republic of Indonesia Law Number 11/2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions in conjunction with Article 46 Paragraph 3 in conjunction with Article 30 Paragraph 3 of Law Number 1/2024 concerning the Second Amendment to Republic of Indonesia Law Number 11/2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions in conjunction with Article 303 Paragraph 1 to 2e and 3e of the Criminal Code.
