Church tax will become more deductible | Nachrichten.at

This is provided for in a motion that was submitted by the coalition to the National Council today. The new regulation will apply from the assessment year 2024. This will continue the broad relief offensive in parliament, from which believers and families should also benefit, explained ÖVP club chairman August Wöginger in a written statement.

Faith is also culture and for many people, especially in challenging times, it is a proverbial anchor that provides security and hope. It is therefore important to provide relief within the framework of tax deductibility – and at the same time a win-win situation. Because those who have to pay church contributions can now claim 200 euros more for tax purposes, but at the same time the money continues to go to the churches and religious communities, which use it to provide pastoral care and valuable work for our society, said Wöginger.
