Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong met with NATO Secretary-General on the 8th to discuss additional support measures for the Ukraine crisis.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Minister Jeong, who was visiting Brussels, Belgium to attend the NATO-Partner Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, met with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg to exchange views on cooperation between Korea and NATO, the Ukraine crisis, and issues on the Korean Peninsula.
President Stoltenberg expressed his gratitude for the $40 million humanitarian aid plan that the Korean government unveiled at the meeting the day before. In response, Minister Jeong said that he plans to consider additional support measures for the Ukraine crisis.
The two sides shared their evaluation of the recent situation on the Korean Peninsula and discussed ways to cooperate for peace, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. Minister Jeong explained the ROK government’s efforts for complete denuclearization and establishment of lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula. Secretary-General Stoltenberg reaffirmed his support for the efforts of our government.
