Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong exchanged views with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg in Brussels, Belgium on the 8th, on Korea-NATO cooperation, the Ukraine crisis, and issues on the Korean Peninsula.
The two sides welcomed the further strengthening of the partnership between Korea and NATO on the occasion of the NATO and partner foreign ministers’ meeting on the 7th, and agreed to continue developing cooperative relations between the two sides in the future.
The two sides shared concerns regarding the protracted situation of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and agreed to work together to resolve the situation as soon as possible.
Secretary-General Stoltenberg expressed his gratitude for the South Korean government’s $40 million humanitarian aid to Ukraine, and Minister Jeong said that he plans to consider additional aid measures.
Minister Jeong explained the government’s efforts to achieve complete denuclearization and establishment of lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula, and Secretary-General Stoltenberg reaffirmed his support for these efforts.
