Chrysler takes a stab at the Halcyon concept

Chrysler has seen many changes over its 99 years of existence, and not all of them were good. In recent years, the brand has gradually narrowed its lineup to two vehicles: the Pacifica minivan and the Chrysler 300, an old-school gas guzzler.

The brand is cataloged by most consulting firms, as “The worst” American car brand. Their cars are not reliable at all and their resale value is horrendous.

The 300 sedan took its last breath in December of last year and the Pacifica minivan has faced stiff competition from minivan surplus heavyweights such as Toyota, Honda and Kia.

A slap of the brand’s drowning hand leads us to a concept to attract attention

This week, Chrysler revealed its Halcyon Concept EV, looking optimistically toward its future. We have to be optimistic, or not?

The Halcyon concept was built to fold the rear seats into the trunk area to show how Chrysler’s Stow ‘n Go seats can be adapted.

The pedals, steering wheel and front seat are stowed away to further showcase its minimalist setup. And the designers got creative with the cabin, claiming that 95% of the interior materials were sustainable.

Even the classic Chrysler wing logo has been redesigned and integrates shredded recyclable electronic CDs into the badge.

The Halcyon concept combines biometric identification to activate an LED exterior lighting animation, voice recognition to control the steering wheel, Level 4 autonomous driving, an adjustable glass canopy and more.

The most notable proposed feature is probably the unlimited range, which uses wireless charging technology to top up the battery while you’re on the move.

This concept was built to use 800-volt lithium-sulfur batteries for electric vehicles, which Chrysler says would result in an approximately 60% smaller carbon footprint than current lithium-ion batteries.

Chrysler says this concept is a glimpse into its future direction and a key moment in the brand’s revitalization. I want to see said Andrea Bocelli.

While Chrysler promises an all-electric vehicle lineup by 2028, this sports car concept won’t be the first to come out, of course, if it comes to fruition or the brand is buried forever.
