The provincial government did not give in to the ATEN workers’ claim and he once again excluded from the salary proposal the increase corresponding to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for January and designed a difficult mechanism of adjustments on extraordinary items, seniority and location by area to try to lift the teaching strike.
The secretary general Marcelo Guagliardo showed himself, for the first time, inclined to promote acceptance, after the negotiation that was “discussed and pulled.” He stated yesterday after 23 that they had obtained “significant advances” regarding the offer made the previous day and anticipated that today they will take it to assemblies to decide acceptance or rejection. “There is no union more democratic than ours,” he said.

Eight kilometers of march

The leader analyzed that the context is “chainsaw” and “blender” on salaries and that the proposal to reincorporate the CPI into salary offers was “due to the tremendous strike” that ATEN carried out after the government offered a “semi-annual and with a limited percentage” proposal.
Guagliardo anticipated yesterday during the event that, if the new salary offer met conditions, they would not spare “anything” to defend its acceptance. “It can be a milestone to go for future struggles and continue having conquests,” he evaluated.
The sectionals will hold assemblies today to define their positionwhich will later be unified in the plenary session of general secretaries.
Why not to the January CPI
The teacher is the the only ranking with which Governor Rolando Figueroa has not yet been able to agree, who had to start his first year in office with a strike in schools.
