Christmas table: Its cost is estimated from 103.10 to 140.76 euros – 2024-08-05 16:03:57

It is estimated that the Christmas table this year (6 – 8 people) will cost from 103.10 to 140.76 euros according to the Trade and Services Institute of the Hellenic Confederation of Trade and Entrepreneurship (INEMY – ESEE).

This is a change of 10.8% to 11.4% compared to the corresponding table of 2022.

INEMY – ESEE carried out a recording with on-site pricing and interviews with key-informers of the market, at prices from both Supermarket chains and from specialized retail stores (e.g. pastry shops – butchers, etc.), as well as from the Varvakeio market. The range of prices is justified by recording a range of products of different quality, in several local markets and different types of stores.

According to ifimerida, it is important to mention that for the sake of data comparability, with the previous INEMY annual surveys for the estimation of the cost of the Christmas table, some products included in the “festive basket” have not been included. Instead, melomakaroni and kourabiedes are recorded, as they are every year, while they are not included in the “household basket” or the “festive basket”.

After the festive season, INEMY-ESEE is going to conduct a nationwide survey regarding the evolution of sales during the festive season in retail businesses.
