How to choose dessert for your dinner

First of all, it is important to emphasize that the most important criterion for choosing the dessert you will serve is, in addition to your personal taste, taking into account your emotional memory. This is a great time to invest in foods that connect us with good memories and make us happier.

That said, some tips can help those who still don’t know what to serve, such as:

  • I like the guests: First of all, it’s important to think regarding what will please the majority of people. There’s no point spending hours in the kitchen preparing a super elaborate dessert, if your family really prefers a good and practical pudding!
  • Refrigeration: Without a doubt, this point is extremely important to take into account. After all, besides the fact that at this time we generally have very hot days, it is quite normal for our refrigerator/freezer to be full of preparations and drinks. Therefore, it is important to provide space for your dessert and not think regarding ice cream, if your freezer is full, or will be opened every 5 minutes;
  • Menu: Undeniably, I’m one of those people who thinks regarding dessert following thinking regarding what I’m going to serve. Of course, if your supper or lunch is for a large number of people, the probability of the menu being very varied is very high. This means it is also possible to think of more than 1 dessert option. But if you, like me, have a smaller supper, I advise you to think regarding a combination of flavors. For example, if I’m going to serve a lighter recipe, like a cod salad, I tend to go for more citrusy and refreshing flavors, like a lemon dessert. At the same time, if I’m going for chicken and potatoes, I opt for a dessert with a light but more striking flavor, like pudding, for example.

How to calculate the amount of dessert per person

This is probably a very common question when it comes to organizing which dessert to serve and how much to prepare. To reach this score, one thing you should take into account is what your family and/or friends’ appetite for desserts is like.

Furthermore, taking into account whether there will be a dessert, whether you will serve French toast and fruit too, can influence this measure.

In any case, a good average to take into consideration is 120g of dessert per person. If you are serving ice cream, increase the portion to 180g.

Condensed milk pudding
