Christmas concert on December 22 at Maison Mère

2023-11-21 20:18:38

For the first time in a long time, Maison Mère Baie-Saint-Paul will present on December 22 a concert of songs, traditional tunes, classical and baroque music and film scores.

The show, lasting 120 minutes, will be performed by the Ensemble Renouveau de Québec and by Renée Gagnon, organist at Maison Mère.

Founded in Quebec in 2017, Ensemble Renouveau brings together five friends met during their time at the conservatory around the same passion. The ensemble is made up of two sopranos, Carole-Anne Roussel and Évelyne Larochelle, and a trio of instrumentalists made up of violinist Jessy Dubé, pianist Bruce Gaulin and cellist Simon Desbiens.

The ensemble aims to democratize the work of classical musicians by making their repertoire more accessible. It will present a wide range of known and/or rearranged works, which characterizes their “Renewal” style.

Baie-Saint-Pauloise Renée Gagnon is a pianist and organist. Also titular of the Casavant organ at the Baie-Saint-Paul church, she stands out as a soloist and as an accompanist.

“With this Christmas concert, Maison Mère intends this year to transport young and old to the heart of the magic of the holiday season,” announces the organization in a press release.

The concert starts at 7 p.m. A glass of sparkling wine will be served free of charge before, a glass of Christmas punch will be offered during the break and a table of sweets and port will await the audience at the end of the concert.

Tickets, on sale at a cost of $35 for section A, $30 for section B and $20 for section C (obstructed view), will be available from November 27, either on www.maisonmere.ca/concerts or at the Maison Mère reception, at 63 rue Ambroise-Fafard. Depending on availability, tickets will also be sold at the door on the evening of the concert.
