Like six weeks ago at the World Championships in Glasgow, Christina Schweinberger also won the bronze medal in the time trial at the European Cycling Championships in the Netherlands on Wednesday.

After 29.5 km to and from Emmen, the Tyrolean was only 0.69 seconds behind the second-placed Brit Anna Henderson. Marlen Reusser was untouchable; the Swiss was 44.05 seconds ahead of Schweinberger. Olympic champion Anna Kiesenhofer came sixth (+55.49).

29 active participants started in the early afternoon, Schweinberger had the fastest start. At the first intermediate time after a good ten kilometers she was only 1.86 seconds ahead of Reusser, Kiesenhofer was twelfth. At the second stop after around 24 km, the Swiss turned the tables and Kiesenhofer was ninth. The 32-year-old from Lower Austria continued to catch up in the finish, while Schweinberger was relegated to third place in the last five kilometers.
