Christians must travel together, keeping their eyes fixed on Christ; Pope’s call to believers

Vatican City: Pope Francis has called on all martyrs to keep their eyes fixed on Christ and to travel together on the path to fellowship. He reminded that the path to Christian unity is important and the search for it is a journey that the faith community must work together for.

The pope was addressing an Ecumenical delegation from Finland who arrived in the Vatican on the sidelines of Prayer Week for Christian Unity. The pope’s words were meditative regarding the priests who found and worshiped Jesus.

The Pujara kings reached their goal because they sought it. But their search began because the Lord first sought them out with the sign of a star. God chose us to be like the kings of the priests. So our response should be a journey together like them.

Those who have been touched by God cannot indulge in themselves and live for themselves. Their calling and mission is to move forward together. Just as tradition treats priests as representatives of different cultures, so do we Christians have a call to move forward hand in hand. There are some easy steps that will encourage us to persevere in this journey together.

An example of this is the sub-actions that bring each other closer. But the journey to perfect unity is even more difficult. It can lead us to a kind of temptation to fatigue and discouragement. Therefore, we must proceed in this journey with the conviction that we are seeking God, not as possessors. Courage and patience are essential for this, and we need to encourage and support each other.

The Trinitarian philosophy and the scientific proclamation of Christ Nicaea unite us baptized and encourage us to zealously follow Christ. The pope reminded us that all human beings, including us, have always sought Christ, even though they did not know it. It is noteworthy that the pope shortened his message to those present with the prayer “Heavenly Father” taught by Christ.
