Washington: American Christians are boycotting the Senate canteen once morest Israel’s mass killings in Gaza and starvation, including children, by denying them food. Protesters under the aegis of Christians for a Free Palestine surrounded the canteen with the slogan ‘Congress should not eat until Gazans eat’.

Protesters also raised banners such as “Send food, not bombs” and “Cut bread, not bodies”. Feminist organization CodePink has also joined the anti-Israel movement.

Around 12.30 pm on Tuesday, dozens of activists stormed into the Senate office building and besieged the cafeteria. The protesters called on parliament to support a ceasefire, restore aid to UNRWA, the Palestinian UN agency, and end military aid to Israel.

Christians for a Free Palestine announced that 55 people, including 30 ordained priests, were arrested in the incident. Later they were released on bail. The cafeteria was closed following the protest.

“More than 50 Christian leaders in the U.S. peacefully blockaded the Senate cafeteria, demanding a permanent cease-fire in Gaza, restoration of aid to UNRWA, and an end to military funding for Israel. The strike declared that no one would eat in the Senate cafeteria until food was sent to Gaza and U.S. aid to those who killed 33,000 Palestinians was stopped” – The organization said.
