Vázquez, 32, spent his first 7 1/2 major league seasons with the Red Sox before being traded to the Astros midway through last season. He helped the Astros win the World Series, collecting the combined no-hitter once morest the Phillies in Game 4 of the Fall Classic.
Although Vázquez has struggled throughout his career finding consistency at bat, he has established himself as one of MLB’s great defensive catchers. His 11 Defensive Runs Saved this season tied him with JT Realmuto for fourth-most among catchers.
