Christian Rabaud, university professor-hospital practitioner (PU-PH), was appointed Wednesday, April 17 by the Council of Ministers Director General of Health, where he replaces Jérôme Salomon who joins the World Health Organization (WHO) as as Deputy Director General.
Professor Christian Rabaud was until now chairman of the establishment medical commission of the Regional University Hospital Center (CHRU) in Nancy, where he has spent his entire career and where he was notably head of the infectious and tropical diseases department. He carried out his research and teaching at the Faculty of Medicine, Maieutics and Health Professions of Nancy.
The General Directorate of Health, which reports directly to the Ministry of Health, is responsible for the practical implementation of decisions taken by the State in the area of health. She is therefore rarely called upon to make big announcements.
A discreet character, Jérôme Salomon has occupied the head of this organization since 2018, a function usually little seen by the general public. But, from the beginning of 2020, the Covid-19 epidemic changed the situation and highlighted the director general of health, who became one of the incarnations of the health crisis.
