Christian organizations in the Philippines filed complaints once morest a drag queen who dressed up as Jesus Christ and performed a rock rendition of the Lord’s Prayer. After the drag queen show, there was a huge protest once morest Pura Luca Vega. Pura Vega, 33, said in her complaint to prosecutors that she insulted her religious faith and her savior.

Last month Luke sang the Lord’s Prayer in the role of Jesus. This angered the believers. Later, there was a huge protest once morest Luca. However, Luca defended the allegations once morest him by saying that ‘what he did was art’.

Earlier, Luke had presented the program dressed as Jesus Christ. However, it was not much noticed. However, they shared the video of the last event on X (Twitter). It gets noticed and gets a huge outcry.

Church leaders and lawmakers described the demonstration as ‘blasphemous’. The first complaint was filed in the end of July. The ‘Philippines for Jesus Movement’, which includes Protestant church leaders, filed a complaint with the Manila Prosecutor’s Office. The complaint was that Article 201 was violated. Article 201 prohibits obscene publications and indecent shows.

After the video went viral, 11 cities, including Manila, banned Luca from entering the city. This affected their work itself. Many events have been canceled by the organizers themselves. Grag queens like Luca often depend on these shows for their living.

Tell me EXACTLY what I did wrong. I’m open for a dialogue and yet cities have been declaring persona non grata without even knowing me or understanding the intent of the performance. Drag is art. You judge me yet you don’t even know me. ????‍♀️

Father Jerome Sequillano, a spokesman for the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines, told the BBC, “I heard Pura Luca Vega say it was art. What they did was mock our faith. It’s a crime to do something like this, whether it’s a man, a woman or a member of the LGBTQ community.”

Lukai also expressed regret over the incident. They said sorry if they hurt anyone. However, she still insisted on her right to express her faith.

However, not one or two complaints have now been filed once morest them before the prosecutor.
