Christian Lackinger: A Tribute to Peter Alexander and More – Live Concert Experience

2023-10-08 14:04:00

A concert in Fischamend – a reminiscence of Peter Alexander – performed by Christian Lackinger. If you close your eyes and listen to the song “It must be something wonderful to be loved by you”, you cannot tell which artist the voice belongs to: Peter Alexander or Christian Lackinger. How is something like this possible? Just a tie? “Of course, the similarity of the voice is a basic requirement, but just as important,” explains Lucky Dean Luciano, “is the ability to empathize with the person you are interpreting. Peter Alexander, Dean Martin, Johnny Cash and Elvis had very similar voices, but I spent years developing each and every one of them as a person. This included a detailed study of the biography, the character, the fine nuances of the voices, the facial expressions and finally the texts, which I feel deep in my heart.” Christian Lackinger is a perfectionist and is convinced that it is only possible in this way is to present something of high quality that is then perceived and loved by the audience as such. This also means that everything is played live.

Once you get a taste of the stage air…

Christian Lackinger, who lives in Wimpassing, is 53 years old. His love of music has accompanied him throughout his life. He was 10 tender years old when he proudly began taking classical guitar lessons at the Pottendorf music school. A few years later he joined a village band, but quickly realized that commercial performances neither pleased nor satisfied him and so he put music on hold for a few years. But as life goes: if something is destined for you, it has to happen. At weddings and birthdays it was always: “Please Lucky, sing something for us!” and once he was up on stage, he didn’t want to go down.

Besides, it was time to study. Christian Lackinger’s wish would have been to devote his studies to music or acting, but his dad, Johnny Lackinger, of course with the best of intentions, put a small stop in his plans. He was spoiled for choice between “law or business administration” and Lucky chose the latter, which enabled him to do his current job in adult education.

„It’s Now or Never“

In 2010, Christian Lackinger performed at a wedding reception, where he met a lady who unabashedly followed him into the dressing room and said: “I want you!” Artistically, of course – as an Elvis interpreter at a casino celebration. That was the starting signal. Perfection followed in 2017 with the founding of the “Memphis Bandits” – thoroughbred musicians who bring Elvis and Johnny Cash to life at their concerts. Also in attendance are his likeable, long-time friends and companions – the psychotherapist Toni Zupanjac and the environmental lawyer Michael “Migo” Graf. In 2014 we even went to an Elvis festival in Las Vegas, where Christian Lackinger was the only European to reach the semi-finals. “Grand Palace Dance Orchestra” is the sophisticated name of the second band, which pays homage to Peter Alexander and Dean Martin. For the duration of an evening you have the pleasure of being transported back to the “good old days”, where charming coquetry made women’s hearts beat faster. If you’re lucky, you’ll sit next to Hans Schüller, Peter Alexander’s former tailor, who gave “Count Bobby” his chic look.

From December 29th it will be that time once more. At the Neufelder Seehotel you have the opportunity to rock and roll with the “Memphis Bandits” to Elvis and Johnny Cash and on January 26th you can succumb to the musician’s charm at a Peter Alexander show at the Orpheum in Vienna.
