Christian Horner, head of the Red Bull Formula 1 team, is increasingly involved, according to European media, in the investigation being carried out for inappropriate conduct involving a member of the world champion team. This Friday the team-manager met with the lawyer outside the team who carried out the report. The issue is coming for a long time and will not be resolved before the presentation of the new car, the RB 20.

Sky journalist Craig Slater claimed that “the allegations were made by a team employee” and that “Horner engaged in “coercive controlling behaviour”.

Today’s hearing was more of a meeting and interview by the external investigator with Horner, in central London rather than the team’s headquarters. The process might take several weeks until a conclusive situation is reached.

At the moment there would be no press release from the team and Horner’s presence at the presentation of the new car, the RB 20, with which Max Verstappen will seek to win his fourth world crown, is in doubt. The outlook would not be optimistic.

While The Race journalist, Mark Hughes, anticipates that the process might continue even following the team’s launch next Thursday in Milton Keynes. The investigation may even still be ongoing when the season kicks off on March 2 in Bahrain.

This scenario is just one part of a much more complex process, and the investigation report will then be presented to the Red Bull board of directors in Austria, which will make any decision based on it.

The Race reported that Red Bull Racing’s media team has been contacted for confirmation, but all queries regarding this matter are so far being referred to the parent company in Austria.

While De Telegraaf reported that Christian Horner was completely surprised last Friday when asked regarding the investigation, following Red Bull submitted a statement without his knowledge and claimed that it was taking the case “extremely seriously.” In addition, the same media assured that Horner has not indicated internally so far that he wants to leave.

It should be noted that Horner, 50, “completely denied the allegations” linking him to inappropriate conduct, following a spokesperson for the team told the PA news agency that, following “becoming aware of certain recent allegations, the team company initiated an independent investigation.”

The concern within Red Bull is palpable, given the potential damage to the brand’s image if the situation is not handled properly. Horner’s departure, given his long and successful career in the team, would represent a significant change for Red Bull Racing, which under his leadership has won six world constructors’ titles and seven drivers’ titles between Sebastian Vettel and himself. Verstappen.
