Lahore: A Christian family in Pakistan has gone into hiding due to the threat of their daughter being abducted and married through forced conversion. The family of Masheel Rasheed, a sixteen-year-old girl, has gone into hiding for their lives.
Once abducted by a man named Abdul Sattar, a Muslim, this girl was forcibly converted and married, and later escaped and reached her own home. But now this family has gone into hiding due to the threat again.
Masheel is the younger daughter of Rasheed Masih. Rashid’s is the only Christian family in Okara, a town near Lahore. When the surrounding Muslims constantly attacked their family, vandalized the house and stole personal belongings, they approached the police with a complaint.
Then on October 25, 2022, Masheel was kidnapped. While the girl was getting ready to go to school, the assailants broke into the house and beat Rasheed unconscious and forcibly took Masheel away.
During their captivity, Masheel was drugged and sexually abused. The marks of torture are clearly visible on her hands.
Meanwhile, Masheel was converted and married to Abdul Sattar. But the girl’s family revealed that although she escaped later, no steps were taken by the police to get justice for the girl.
The rescued girl was beaten and unable to speak. Ten days ago, the family left Okara village for their lives, fearing that if they stay in their own home, they will be taken back to the person who forcibly married her.
