Oscar 2022 has been completed. There is a surprising moment at the prestigious awards ceremony for film people.
Chris Rock who was the presenter for the nomination was slapped by Will Smith. What was it like?
It started when Chris Rock went on stage to read out the Best Documentary Features nominations. The comedian also joked regarding Javier Bardem and his wife, Penelope Cruz, who were nominated for an Oscar. Then he began to discuss Jada Pinkett Smith’s appearance with bald hair which is similar to the film GI Jane.
“Jada, I love you. GI Jane 2, can’t wait to see it. Wow, that’s a great film,” he said.
At first Will Smith was seen laughing with some of his jokes. However, suddenly he walked towards the stage. Without a word, he slapped Chris Rock hard in the face and came down once more.
“Gosh, Will Smith just beat me up,” he said.
“Don’t you dare mention my wife’s name,” shouted Will Smith.
“Wow, that friend is just a joke regarding GI Jane,” Chris replied.
“Don’t you mention my wife’s name,” Will shouted, full of emotion which made the atmosphere quiet.
“I’m going to continue (the reading of the nominations) okay? It really was… the best night in television history,” said Chris Rock before announcing the winner.
Shortly following the incident, Will Smith also seemed pacified by Denzel Washington to Bradley Cooper. They tried to talk to him and give him hugs to calm the actor down.
Then Will Smith won his first Oscar in the film King Richard. There, he apologized for his previous actions.
“I want to apologize to the Academy, I want to apologize to all the nominees. It’s a beautiful moment. I’m not crying because I won the award. It’s not regarding winning, it’s regarding being able to shine a light on everyone,” he said.
The Oscar 2022 also voted for Will Smith’s death slap to Chris Rock.
“The Academy does not condone violence in any form,” he tweeted.
After being slapped, Chris Rock did not report Will Smith to the authorities. This was revealed by the Los Angeles police.
