The Latvian artist recently spent a week in Margate, England, working alongside British producer Christopher harris in his studio. This creative retreat brought together Noah’s trusted team, including drummer Jēkabs Zemzaris, keyboardist Krists Krūskops, and guitarist Kaspars Vizulis, who contributed to the recording process both in Latvia and England.

Noah’s new track, titled Romance isn’t dead, delves into the complexities of modern relationships and societal expectations. Reflecting on the song’s inspiration, he shares, “sometimes I miss real romance so much: not only in the context of relationships, but also in everyday activities—romanticizing impressions, experiences, and stories. For this reason, in the song, I express in a way my disappointment with the norms accepted in society and the usual agenda, which is quite predictable and can be quite impersonal. Romance isn’t dead is like a statement that I really want to believe, but it’s getting harder and harder to do so.”

This isn’t Noah’s frist venture into the Eurovision spotlight. In 2023, he collaborated with Latvian producer JJ Lush to co-write Stay, performed by Lithuanian artist Monika Linkytė.The song triumphed in Lithuania’s national selection and secured an extraordinary 11th place in the Eurovision final held in Liverpool, England. Additionally, Noah showcased his vocal talents as a backing singer for Don’s performance of Hollow at the 68th Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden.

Looking ahead, Noah is gearing up to compete in Latvia’s Supernova song contest, where 20 semi-finalists will vie for a spot in the finals on February 8, 2025. Archyde: chris, thank you for joining us today. You’ve been making waves in the music scene, especially with your latest album, goodbye is not sad if we certainly know that we will meet soon. Now,you’re diving into the world of Eurovision with your new track,Romance isn’t dead. What inspired you to create this song?

Chris Noah: thank you for having me! The inspiration for Romance isn’t dead came from a place of longing, really. I’ve been reflecting on how modern relationships and societal norms often feel so impersonal and predictable. I miss the magic of real romance—not just in love, but in everyday life. the song is my way of expressing that disappointment while also holding onto hope. It’s a statement I want to believe in, even though it feels harder to do so these days.

Archyde: You recently spent time in Margate, England, working with British producer Christopher Harris. What was that experience like, and how did it shape the song?

Chris Noah: Margate was astonishing.Christopher Harris is a genius, and his studio has this creative energy that’s hard to describe. Being there with my team—Jēkabs, krists, and Kaspars—was like stepping into a bubble where we coudl focus entirely on the music. We experimented with sounds, layered emotions, and really pushed the boundaries of what we could create. The song evolved so much during that week, and I think it’s stronger because of it.

Archyde: This isn’t your first time being involved with Eurovision. In 2023, you co-wrote Stay for Monika Linkytė, which did exceptionally well. How does this experience compare to your previous Eurovision ventures?

chris Noah: It’s a wholly different journey this time. With Stay, I was behind the scenes, collaborating with JJ Lush and supporting Monika. It was amazing to see the song resonate with so many people and to witness its success in Liverpool. But now, with Romance isn’t dead, I’m stepping into the spotlight myself. It’s both thrilling and nerve-wracking. I feel a deeper connection to this song because it’s so personal, and I’m excited to share it with the world.

Archyde: You’re also no stranger to the Eurovision stage, having been a backing singer for Don’s performance of Hollow in Malmö. How did that experience influence your approach to performing?

Chris Noah: being on that stage was surreal. The energy, the audience, the sheer scale of it all—it’s something you can’t fully prepare for until you’re there. It taught me the importance of authenticity and connection. eurovision isn’t just about the music; it’s about the story you tell and the emotions you evoke.That’s something I’ve carried with me as I prepare for Supernova.

Archyde: Speaking of Supernova, Latvia’s national selection for Eurovision, you’re one of 20 semi-finalists competing for a chance to represent your country. How are you feeling about the competition?

Chris Noah: I’m feeling a mix of excitement and determination. The competition is fierce, and there’s so much talent in Latvia. But I believe in Romance isn’t dead and the message it carries. I’m ready to give it my all and hope that it resonates with both the judges and the audience.

Archyde: If you win Supernova and represent Latvia at Eurovision 2025,what do you hope to achieve on the international stage?

Chris Noah: My goal is to create a moment that people will remember. Eurovision is such a unique platform—it’s not just about winning; it’s about connecting with people across cultures and borders. Chris Noah: There’s always more music to make and stories to tell.
