Coldplay vocalist Chris Martin emphasized that the band, which has been around since 1997, will only make 12 albums. The British pop-rock group, consisting of vocalist Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland, drummer Will Champion and bassist Guy Berryman, is known to be releasing their 10th album, entitled Moon Music, in the next few weeks.
“We’re only going to make 12 albums and that’s a real promise. “That is a realistic thing,” said Martin as quoted by the Mirror.
Previously, Martin also said that Coldplay would release their final record album in 2025 and after that they only planned to do a concert tour.

“I’ll tell you why it’s so important that we have that limit. First of all, there are only eight Harry Potters and there are only 12 and a half Beatles albums. There are about the same number (albums) put out by Bob Marley. So all our heroes have that limit and that means that quality control is very high nowadays, and for a song to make it, it’s almost impossible,” explains Martin.
“There’s something about the Coldplay thing. “I don’t know where the songs come from, I don’t know where the ideas come from, but it’s just been coming to me for about four or five years now that you have to finish it this way,” he continued.
Martin believes that once Coldplay’s 12 albums are complete, they will just tour and do something on the side, or perhaps put out a compilation of things they haven’t finished yet.

“Apart from making a great album as a band, there was a lot of fighting and I wanted to give the others a piece of their life for themselves,” Martin said.
Since the release of their first album, Parachutes, in 2000, the band has had chart-topping albums including A Rush Of Blood To The Head (2002), X&Y (2005) Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends (2008), Mylo Xyloto (2011), Ghost Stories (2014), A Head Full Of Dreams (2015), Everyday Life (2019), and Music Of The Spheres (2021).
Coldplay have announced a UK concert tour in 2025 featuring ten shows at London’s Wembley Stadium and two at Hull’s Craven Stadium. Tickets for Coldplay’s 2025 tour are already sold out.
