Chris Buescher passed Martin Truex Jr. in the final 10 laps to win Monday’s rain-delayed NASCAR Cup race at Michigan International Speedway.
After the final round of green flag pit stops, Buescher moved into the lead but with Truex – who had won the first two stages – close behind and in a strong #19 Toyota.
With regarding 12 of the 200 laps to go, Truex went on the inside of Buescher and briefly moved ahead for the lead.
Buescher, however, used the car of Michael McDowell which was approaching like a spike and laterally traced Truex to get back into the lead with 10 laps to go.
From there, Buescher ably stayed ahead of Truex and edged him by 0.152 seconds at the checkered flag to take his second straight win of the 2023 season.
The victory is the fourth of Buescher’s career and marks the first time since 2010 that Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing has won back-to-back races.
Denny Hamlin finished third, Buescher’s teammate, Brad Keselowskiwas fourth and Kyle Larson completed the top five (and was the only driver from Hendrick Motorsports who finished the race).
They completed the top-10 Daniel Saurez, Ross Chastain, Kevin Harvick, Ryan Blaney y Erik Jones.
Stage 1
On Sunday, Truex held off a late charge from Bubba Wallace on a restart with six laps to go and took the Stage 1 win. Ty Gibbs was third, Kesley was third and Kesley third. Ty Gibbs was third, Keselowski fourth, and Larson fifth.
While fighting side by side with Blaney for position, Kyle Busch he spun and crashed into the wall at Turn 2, putting him out of the race following 15 laps.
A Chase Elliott He blew a rear tire and crashed in Turn 2 just before the conclusion of the first stage, also sending him to the garage early.
Stage 2
Truex passed Suárez around the final corner on the final lap to win Stage 2 once racing resumed on Monday. Keselowski was third, Wallace fourth and Alex Bowman rounded out the top five.
Before the race was stopped following lap 75 for rain on Sunday, Christopher Bell he spun early in the stage just following taking the lead from Bowman.

During the break between Stages 2 and 3, several cars from the lead lap decided to pit for tire changes and refuel, but Buescher was left out and inherited the lead. Truex, the first out of the pits, moved up to 10th at the restart.
Bowman became the third Hendrick Motorsports driver to be eliminated from the race following being involved in a multi-car incident on the back straight just as the final stage started.
Buescher y Tyler Reddick they began a final round of green flag pit stops to change tires and fuel and reach the end of the race with just over 40 laps to go.
Reddick had to return to the pits almost immediately with a loose wheel, which required a lengthy pit stop.
With the pit stop cycle complete, Buescher once more led the race with 18 laps to go. Truex, however, was three to four cars behind.
Truex got inside Buescher and briefly took the lead only to see Buescher use a lapped car and side-draft it and come back to the lead with 10 laps to go.
