Choucair reveals talks to boost the incomes of private sector workers

The head of the economic bodies, former Minister Mohamed Choucair, revealed to Leb Economy that talks are taking place between the economic bodies, the General Labor Union and the Economic and Social Council at the council’s headquarters to study the erosion of purchasing capacities and the burden of living as a result of the rise in the dollar exchange rate, and thus how to improve the incomes of workers and employees in the private sector.

Shukair revealed that “there is a tendency to consolidate these incomes to mitigate the impact of the high dollar exchange rate, which exceeded the 36,000-pound ceiling on wages, pointing to several options for this purpose, such as an increase in transportation allowance.

He pointed out that the situation is very bad as a result of the current collapse and comprehensive solutions are required through an agreement with the International Monetary Fund and the approval and implementation of the economic recovery plan and reforms, but until intervention is necessary to strengthen the resilience of workers in the private sector.

Choucair revealed that reaching an understanding between the parties is very close.
